We’ve been saying it for years…
Why in the WORLD do license Radiographers have to take an EXTRA TEST just for the state of California?!
Some said, “money grab.” Others said, “because Cali has to add extra layers of regulations to everything!”
Who would predict that the Great State of California would NULIFY the need to take the California Fluoroscopy License Exam after all this time?
The real kicker?
They are predating it back to 2011!
Yep.
If you got your ARRT license from 2011 forward, you didn’t need a California Fluoroscopy Exam License.
Here’s your proof. Might not be there forever so I’ll make my own copy.
Refunds Anyone?
As soon as I heard this news, I posted this on some Facebook groups catering to radiology employees.
Some are currently pending to take the exam. One as early as Monday of next week!
Why wouldn’t the CDPH tell these people that the rules had changed?
Is that all they planned on doing was slipping out a notice on their state website?
Government at its Finest
“A Radiologic Technology Certification Committee (RTCC) subcommittee named Fluoroscopy Content Within Current ARRT Examination was established at the April 2, 2014 RTCC meeting”
The committee to review this was established in 2014!
Here’s the real kicker though…
The committee was composed of “representatives from the ARRT and Rad Tech school program directors.”
Who knows better what techs go through in rad tech school than licensed techs and rad tech program directors? Why would it take SIX years to come to this conclusion?
Edit: I should say that it is probably these exact individuals who finally got this unnecessary test removed for ARRT license holders. Without talking to them on a Zoom, I won’t condemn.
But the Fun Continues
This document states that this is effective October 1, 2020…right?
Then why does it continue on page two to say that “Between Oct 1, 2020 and November 1, 2020 we will continue to accept the existing California Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit Application form.”?????
Unless your job demands it, just wait until after November 2 and file for your fluoro license.
I guess, those of you who need the license, can just be thankful that it finally got overturned?
Can this year get any crazier?!
